Dar al-Diyafa — The house of hospitality
Dar al-Diyafa (دار الضيافة, “the house of hospitality”) is the paying house inside Al-Munya. The nudamāʾ and their guests stay there; the official Arabic name is this one, and this one alone.

One stays there at one’s own charge. The proceeds remain with Al-Munya, the company that holds the body. That company pays the house of formation a fixed annual fee, whatever the profits — never a percentage of the takings.
How one is received
It receives the nudamāʾ and the guests they present; every request is examined, with the right to refuse. The price of a stay is high; it is not the price that decides admission.
A stay confers no title over the common life of the neighbouring House. Crossing the door in the common wall, if it happens, remains a gesture of those who live there.
Dar al-Diyafa exists in Fez and in Sicily, with the same logic and the same name.
The apartment of honour
It is not let. It enters no tariff and appears on no list: the house offers it, when it so decides. It is not a suite at a higher rate.
The rule is written so that this room remains what it is: offered, or empty. The day it had a price, its function would be destroyed.
